The National Society of Physical Activity Practitioners in Public Health (NSPAPPH) is a professional organization with the purpose of increasing the capacity of physical activity practitioners in public health in order to improve the health of all people in the United States. NSPAPPH’s goal is to elevate physical activity as a public health priority through engagement, education, and expansion of partnerships.
Membership eligibility: Membership is open to all individuals interested in physical activity in public health. Members come from a variety of backgrounds and professions including health improvement, health promotion, health education, public health, exercise science, exercise physiology, physical education, recreation and other related fields. There are three categories of membership.
Representatives: These members are selected by the department of health in each state, territory or tribal government to be the primary representative to NSPAPPH for their department of health. They represent the interests of the physical activity practitioners within their jurisdiction and encourage practitioner participation in NSPAPPH through general membership. Representatives currently serve as the collective decision-making body of NSPAPPH.
General Membership: General membership is open to all individuals interested in physical activity in public health. General membership is unlimited and encouraged for individuals working at the local, state, territorial, tribal and national levels. General members may serve on NSPAPPH committees and attend all NSPAPPH national meetings and conferences.

Membership dues: Membership dues are currently waived for all three categories of membership. Dues will go into effect in 2013.
