The National Society of Physical Activity Practitioners in Public Health (NSPAPPH) is a professional organization with the purpose of increasing the capacity of physical activity public health professionals and supporters at all levels to promote health, reduce chronic disease, and address other public health issues related to physical activity. The NSPAPPH’s goal is to elevate physical activity as a public health priority through engagement, education, and expansion of partnerships. Membership in the NSPAPPH is open to all professionals interested in promoting physical activity issues.
Who is eligible to join? Members of the NSPAPPH come from various academic backgrounds and professions, such as health promotion and education, public health, exercise science, exercise
physiology, and physical education. Members are eligible for membership in three areas.
Representatives
· Representatives are the voting members of the NSPAPPH.
· One Representative is selected by the public health department of each state, territory, district, commonwealth or
tribe.
· Representatives represent the needs of physical activity public health practitioners across their state.
· The Representative, as the voting member, should foster a strong, positive working relationship with other physical
activity practitioners in their state and encourage their participation in the NSPAPPH as part of the general
membership.
General Membership
· General membership is open to any health professional and advocate, employed or interested in physical activity
programs.
· General members may serve on committees and attend all meetings but are not eligible to serve as officers of the
NSPAPPH or to vote.
· General Membership of the NSPAPPH is unlimited and encouraged for individuals and Organizations at the local,
state, and national levels, which promote physical activity and healthy lifestyles.
Student Membership
· A student membership is defined as a person who is attending an accredited college or university.
What are the dues? Currently fees are waived.
How do I join? Complete and submit an application. Once your application has been processed and approved, you will receive notice that your application has been approved with directions to register for the NSPAPPH website access. If you sign up for a committee, you will receive a welcome email from the committee chair, a committee meeting schedule, and an invitation to participate in all committee calls.
Membership is free, but you must submit application.
