What is the National Society of Physical Activity Practitioners in Public Health?

The National Society of Physical Activity Practitioners in Public Health (NSPAPPH) is a professional organization dedicated to growing the capacity of physical activity practitioners in public health. Those who work in this emerging field come from various academic backgrounds and professions, including health promotion and education, public health, exercise science and exercise physiology, and physical education. NSPAPPH intends to elevate physical activity in public health practice at national, state, and local levels through professional development.

NSPAPPH is a 501 (c)(6) not-for-profit organization.

Support for NSPAPPH comes from the Directors of Health Promotion & Education in a cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention.

What are Physical Activity Practitioners?
Physical Activity Practitioners are best described as those persons who meet the NSPAPPH’s established Core Competencies and Knowledge, Skills and Abilities and spend the majority of their professional time engaged in the exercise of those competencies.

Why join the NSPAPPH?

Membership and participation in NSPAPPH enhances networking with other physical activity practitioners in public health involved in the field of physical activity across their state, territory, district, commonwealth, or tribe. Members receive or have access to advocacy information; continuing education opportunities through meetings, seminars and conferences; professional development through participation in NSPAPPH projects and partnerships; leadership opportunities through Board of Directors and committees; and, subscription to print and electronic newsletters and website.
