Dannon Next Generation Nutrition Grants
Applications for the sixth annual Dannon Next Generation Nutrition Grants are now available on the Dannon website under the ‘Dannon Cares’ section http://dannon.com/dannoncares.aspx. Applications are due by March 29, 2011. Dannon will award grants of ,000 to four nonprofits for programs that promote healthy eating and support nutrition education for children within each of the four communities where a Dannon facility is located – Salt Lake County, Utah; Tarrant County, Texas; Westchester County, New York and Shelby, Mercer, Darke and Auglaize counties in Ohio. Dannon established the Dannon Next Generation Nutrition Grant program in 2006 to promote childhood nutrition education in communities. Each organization that receives a grant creates a program that helps children develop life-long habits for good nutrition and exercise. In 2010 alone, 0,000 in grants benefited nearly 4,000 children and families nationwide; and since the inception of the Dannon Next Generation Grant program, more than 0,000 has benefited nearly 14,000 children and their families. To qualify for funding, organizations must be designated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and must already be engaged in a nutrition education program for children up to age 18, or be able to launch such an initiative in 2011. Reducing Health Disparities
Reducing Health Disparities by Preventing Obesity among Minority and Underserved Women and Girls—Regional Offices on Women’s Health Funding is available for specific activities intended to prevent, raise awareness of, or respond to overweight and obesity problems in communities. Projects may focus on helping communities, individuals, or families to implement healthy eating and/or physical activity habits.
